On 1 May 2022, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, delivered his opening remarks for the “Thai - Lao Business Talk and Networking” event, which was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel to honour the official visit from H.E. Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, as well as the Lao delegates from both public and private sectors.

The Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic has given a keynote speech for this event and expressed appreciation that the event was well attended by businesspeople from both countries. In fact, the event was attended by over 200 representatives of leading Thai - Lao companies in 9 sectors. This event also became a stage for representatives from public and private sectors of both countries to exchange ideas on cross-border trade, the utilization, and benefits of the opening of the Laos - China railway, as well as other business negotiations to accommodate bilateral trade and investment.

Ultimately, this event is part of Thailand’s “Economic Diplomacy” initiatives to enhance mutual benefits from bilateral trade and investment between Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic through “connectivity” and “shared business ecosystem”.
