On 8 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Day 2025 celebration held at Lumpini Park, Bangkok. The event was organized by the Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN. It was the first time that ASEAN Day celebration was held outside the Ministry’s premises. The programme featured the ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony and the “ASEAN Family Run”, aimed at encouraging healthy and balanced lifestyles, in line with ASEAN’s vision of building a resilient, inclusive and people-centered community. The event was attended by approximately 350 participants from diplomatic representatives from ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste, ASEAN Dialogue Partners and Sectoral Dialogue Partners from 23 countries, as well as various sectors, including government agencies, the private sector, academia, international organisations and the general public.

In his opening remarks, the Foreign Minister reiterated that Thailand, as a founding member of ASEAN, recognises its responsibility to strengthen the shared spirit and identity of the ASEAN Community, and to advance ASEAN in all dimensions in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

The occasion was also graced by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, who participated in the ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony and joined the ASEAN Family Run. The event received the valuable support of the ASEAN-Thailand Association, C asean, Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF), Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev), and the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD).
