On 16 May 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations (2024-2027), co-chaired the 29th ASEAN-ROK Dialogue in Bangkok with H.E. Mr. Chung Byung-Won, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the ROK. The Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN and Senior Officials or representatives of ASEAN Member States also attended the meeting, with Senior Official of Timor-Leste present as Observer.

The Meeting discussed ways to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), including advancing peace and security, building a smart and environmentally-friendly future, and promoting socio-cultural cooperation, as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues.

The Permanent Secretary led discussions in the area of science, technology and innovation, highlighting cooperation with the ROK in (1) digital economy and digital capability building; (2) responsible use of AI while strengthening cybersecurity; (3) smart mobility and smart cities, including EV ecosystem development in ASEAN.

In addition, prior to the Meeting, the Permanent Secretary held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the ROK to strengthen the ASEAN-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in 2024 on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of dialogue relations. They also discussed bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of high-level visits, trade cooperation, and exchanged views on situations in the region.
