Director-General of Department of International Organizations discussed activities to celebrate 75th anniversary of Thailand's membership of the United Nations in 2021 and outreach programme “UNderstand Project” aimed at providing youth with knowledge on UN & multilateral diplomacy, during UN Association of Thailand General Meeting.

In commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Thailand’s membership of the United Nations on 16 December 2021, the Department of International Organizations and the United Nations Association of Thailand (UNAT) planed a series of public awareness-raising activities throughout 2021 - 2022 on United Nations (UN), Thailand’s multilateral diplomacy, and a so-called “UNderstand Project” with educational institutions, innovative outreach platform, social networks, and Saranrom Radio (AM 1575 KHz) at the UNAT’s General Meeting on 30 November 2020 at Vithes Samosorn.

The meeting agreed to highlight the “strong, constructive, and uninterrupted” role of Thailand in the three main pillars of the UN over the past 74 years especially on Thailand’s proactive role in the realisation of Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs. In an effort to foster greater understanding on UN works, the meeting agreed to organise seminars and roadshows on how the work of the UN affects or benefits Thailand and the Thai people’s daily lives. The UNAT and MFA’s International Studies Centre (ISC) will co-host a seminar on UN related issues and Thailand’s role in the UN in December 2020.

UNAT, a non-governmental organisation, was founded on 1953 to promote greater knowledge and awareness among the Thai general public of the principles and works of the UN.
