Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired an inter-agency meeting to exchange views on the outcomes of the Seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 75), enhancing cooperation to strengthen Thailand’s role in United Nations’ pillars and agenda, including the acceleration of the SDGs and the COVID-19 response.

On 22 March 2021, Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired a meeting with relevant government agencies to exchange views on the outcomes of the main session of the Seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 75) and global issues that have been widely raised and debated during the session. The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between government agencies to strengthen Thailand’s proactive role in three main pillars of the United Nations, be they peace and security, development, and human rights.

The meeting was informed of the outcomes of various meetings in which the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs participated online during the High-level Week of UNGA 75. Important agenda items that were highlighted during the session included the acceleration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and cooperation on effective measures in combating COVID-19, as well as the experience of Thai delegates in New York participating in online consultation among Member States.

The meeting was also informed that a series of activities will be organised throughout 2021-2022 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Thailand’s membership in the United Nations which falls upon the date of 16 December 2021 to raise awareness on the United Nations and Thailand’s role in the United Nations.
