On 23 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Ms. Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, on the sidelines of the High-level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and cooperation within the ASEAN - EU framework. The two sides also discussed regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar, Thailand–Cambodia relations, and efforts to combat transnational crime. Both sides then agreed to exchange visits at an appropriate opportunity in the future.

In addition, the Latvian side provided an update on Latvia’s prospective accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
