Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs meets with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand

On 16 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand.

Both sides welcomed the successful elections in their respective countries in early February. They reaffirmed the continued commitment to further enhancing cooperation, particularly in the economic aspect, with substantial potential for expansion through advancing negotiations on the Thailand - Bangladesh Free Trade Agreement and the opening of a shipping route between Ranong Port and Chittagong Port.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues, including developments in Myanmar following its elections and the situation in the Middle East. They underscored the importance of deepening cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally to address security challenges affecting citizens of both countries, particularly online scams.
