On 24 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Ms. Rosemary A. DiCarlo, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs on the occasion of the latter’s official visit to Thailand.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and Thailand as well as ASEAN, particularly in advancing partnerships for peacebuilding, sustainable development and addressing emerging threats. The Under-Secretary-General also expressed appreciation for Thailand’s constructive role and continued support for the work of the United Nations, particularly as the host country of various agencies of the United Nations and international organizations -- in line with the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote Thailand as a regional hub for international organizations or the “Geneva of Asia”.

The Vice Minister provided the Under-Secretary-General with an update on the border situation between Thailand and Cambodia, expressing Thailand’s appreciation to the United Nations for closely monitoring the developments. The Vice Minister also sought the United Nations continued support for Thailand’s efforts to resolve the situation peacefully through existing bilateral mechanisms, which are making progress from the recent meetings of the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) on 21-22 October 2025 in Chantaburi province and the General Border Committee (GBC) on 23 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar. The Vice Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s constructive role in supporting all parties in Myanmar to achieve a peaceful resolution to the ongoing situation.
