On 18 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a discussion with H.E. Dr. Vincent Biruta, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Rwanda, on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams (IC-GPOS), co-hosted by Thailand and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at InterContinental Hotel, Bangkok.

The Vice Minister stated that Thailand places great importance on strengthening relations with the African region in all dimensions under Thailand’s foreign policy toward Africa, known as the Thailand - Africa Initiative (TAI). The Interior Minister’s visit to Thailand constitutes an important momentum in further deepening ties between Thailand and Rwanda. Both sides also discussed Thailand - Rwanda cooperation in various areas, particularly consular affairs and anti-human trafficking efforts. The Rwandan side expressed its appreciation to Thailand for facilitating the repatriation of Rwandan nationals who had fallen victim to transnational criminal networks, and commended the convening of this International Conference for supporting the development of cooperative networks among stakeholders. The Rwandan side expressed interest in taking a leading role in promoting a regional-level meeting in Africa on this issue, with a view to ensuring continuity in collective efforts to address the problem at the international level.

Also in attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Justice of Thailand, as well as representatives from the Royal Thai Police and the Rwanda National Police. The Vice Minister reiterated that enhanced coordination and cooperation between the relevant agencies of both sides would foster mutual understanding and closer collaboration, particularly in the long-term prevention and suppression of human trafficking.
