On 7 March 2024, His Excellency Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs met Mr. Ariel Seidman, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the Embassy of the State of Israel in Bangkok to discuss about the situation in the Gaza/Israel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs informed the Israeli side that Thailand has been closely following the ongoing situation in Israel-Gaza. The Thai side is especially concerned by the most recent incident in northern Israel which has resulted in the loss of innocent lives, including injuries of 5 Thai workers. He reiterated the request of the Royal Thai Government to the Israeli side to ensure the safety of Thai workers in Israel, particularly preventing Thai workers from being employed in areas where there are serious security concerns.

Vice Minister Sihasak underscored the Royal Thai Government’s deep concern of the fate of the remaining 8 Thai hostages. The Thai Government has not ceased in its effort to secure the release of the 8 Thai nationals. Thailand would like to call on all sides to exert their full efforts to move the on-going talks forward to reach a humanitarian ceasefire as soon as possible, leading to the release of all hostages, avoiding further loss of lives and allowing greater access for delivery of humanitarian assistance to alleviate the plight of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
