On 25 March 2021, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, had a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Nigel Adams, Minister of State (for Asia) of the UK. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including (1) forging the Thai- UK bilateral relations through the UK’s Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy, published on 16 March 2021. The UK aims to reinforce cooperation with its allies both at bilateral and multilateral levels, in areas of foreign affairs, security, trade and international values; (2) exchanging information about the COVID-19 situation and vaccines; (3) expressing support for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to be hosted by the UK in November 2021; (4) agreeing to hold a Thai-UK Special Strategic Dialogue via videoconference to further promote concrete bilateral cooperation; and (5) exchanging views on regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar.

This meeting provided a good opportunity for Thailand and the UK to discuss their bilateral relations, particularly following the UK’s newly released Integrated Review which is an important framework for the conduct of the UK's foreign policy in the years to come.
