On 23 May 2023, Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, welcomed a delegation of senior executives of agencies under the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) and the Government of Viet Nam on the occasion of their visit to Thailand during 22 – 26 May 2023.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Thailand and Viet Nam, with a view to enhance both countries’ resilience in the face of fast-changing international landscape and economic slowdown. They stressed the importance of turning the “Three Connects” strategy, which was adopted by the leaders of both countries, into concrete action, including connecting supply chains of both countries in complementary industries, connecting grassroots economies and SMEs at the local-to-local level and connecting the two countries’ green economy strategies. They also discussed energy cooperation, during which Director-General Chatchai reaffirmed the strong commitment of the Thai private sector to contributing to the goals of Viet Nam’s 8th Power Development Plan, especially in the development of clean and renewable energy.

This visit was organised by the Royal Thai Embassy and Royal Thai Consulate-General in Viet Nam to provide the Vietnamese delegation with the opportunity to meet with various government agencies and the private sector of Thailand, which will contribute to the building of closer networks for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

In addition to the above-mentioned meeting, this visit also includes meetings with the Ministry of Energy, Thailand – Viet Nam Friendship Association and Thailand – Viet Nam Business Council. The Vietnamese delegation will also visit EGAT Learning Center and Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant, as well as meetings with relevant authorities and agencies of Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
