The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand discussed with the Ambassador of Russia to Thailand, enhancing bilateral cooperation including cooperation on COVID-19 vaccines, and extending invitation to high-level representatives of Russia to participate in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, to be hosted by Thailand in 2022.
On 18 February 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, welcomed H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand, during a courtesy call on the occasion of the latter’s assumption of duty.
Both sides noted with satisfaction the good relations between Thailand and Russia and discussed enhancing cooperation in various dimensions including the preparations for the 8th Meeting of the Thai-Russian Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JC), in which the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will co-chair with the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, as well as possible cooperation with Russia on COVID-19 vaccines.
Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs considering the post-COVID-19 period the best opportune time for countries to harmonise and forge a constructive cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs viewed that the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting which Thailand will host in 2022, will be a good opportunity for the member economies to meet after the long interval, and looked forward to welcoming the Russian representatives in this special occasion.
