On 18 December 2012 H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, together with Gp.Cpt.Chanon Mungthanya, Defense and Air Force Attaché, and Thai officials from the Royal Thai Embassy travelled to Saab Aeronautics headquarters in Linköping to visit the Gripen fighter plane factory.       

     High-level management of Saab Aeronautics welcomed and briefed the Ambassador on the background of the company and the evolution of the Gripen multi-role fighter aircrafts.  As for the bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Sweden, the Royal Thai Air Force purchased a total of 12 Gripen 39C/D fighters during the 2-phrase project.

     The Ambassador and delegation were led inside the restricted production area where they were briefed on the high technology used to assemble the Gripen aircrafts.
