On  25 March 2013, H.E. Mr. Worawudh Chuwiruch, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE, Mr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Consul-General of Thailand to Dubai and the Northern Emirates and officers and staff from the Royal Thai Embassy, Abu Dhabi, and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai, attended the "Songkarn Splash: An Amazing Thailand Night 2013", organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Dubai and Middle East Office, at the Westin Mina Seyahi Hotel, Dubai.

"Songkarn Splash: An Amazing Thailand Night 2013" showcased various elements of the Thai culture and tradition through the concept of Thai New Year or "Songkarn".  During the event,   classical Thai dances, umbrella painting and Thai massage demonstration were performed and Thai fruits and desserts stalls were on display to create a unique Thai ambience for the invited guests. 

The event was organized to introduce Thai cultural festivities in the Middle East, as a part of the Royal Thai Government policy to promote "Thainess" through cultural tourism.

Currently, Thailand welcomes approximately 110,000 visitors from the UAE each  year where 60 percent of this number visits the country for medical tourism.
