On 24 March 2013, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, together with Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT), Siam Cement Group (SCG), Thai Airways International and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Dubai, hosted the "1st Sawasdee Cup Golf Tournament" at  Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai. The objective of the event was to strengthen the ties between the Thai and foreign communities in the United Arab Emirates, as well as creating a net working channel for the public and private sectors.                            

     The winners of the tournament were announced at the award presentation ceremony, followed by a luck draw, where the tournament's lucky winners walked away with prizes including 2 return tickets Dubai-Bangkok, sponsored by Thai Airways International, as well as hotels and restaurant vouchers. 

     The event was the first of its kind to be hosted by the Royal Thai Consulate-General and had received a positive feedback from the participants.
