On 26 March 2013, Mr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Consul-General of Thailand to Dubai and the Northern Emirates attended the opening ceremony of the “34th MidEast Watch '&' Jewellery Show", Sharjah, organized by the Expo Center Sharjah, with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to showcase precious metal and gems to traders from both in the Middle East and around the world.  The Opening Ceremony was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Qassimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.                      

The main attraction of the exhibition this year was the Thai Pavilion, which featured Thailand’s precious stones and fine craftsmanship products under the theme “Ploi Thai Road Show Gems & Jewelry", organized by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) exclusively for the event.  Moreover, the association also hosted fashion shows, which featured gems and jewellery creations from top Thai manufacturers under the national brand "Ploi Thai".

The "34th MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show", one of the flagship shows of Expo Center Sharjah, was held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.  This year the expo welcomed more than 450 exhibitors from country such as Italy, Singapore and Thailand.
