On 7 April 2013, Ambassador Chaiyong Satjipanon and Consul General Jesda Katavetin officially presented a pair of street lamps decorated with a Thai mythical creature called Kinnara to the City of Los Angeles during the annual Thai New Year Songkran Festival in Thai Town, Los Angeles.
The Kinnara street lamps serve as a gift from the Royal Thai Government to commemorate the 180th Anniversary of Thai-American relations as well as to celebrate the natural bond of friendship between Thailand and the City of Los Angeles that lies in the community of Thai-American Angelinos.
The Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles funded 24,000 US dollar to the project to help beautify the neighborhood of Thai Town and to show the Royal Thai Government’s commitment to working closely with the Thai community in Los Angeles in advancing its continued development.
