On 4 May 2013 the Royal Thai Embassy organized a “Thai Open House 2013” as part of the “Passport DC: Around the World Embassy” program, which has been organized every year by the Cultural Tourism DC since 2008.This year’s event was also part of the Embassy’s activities to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the establishment of the Thai-U.S. official relations.  Various activities and exhibits were organized, which featured Thai culture and products, including Thai food, Thai classical dance, Jazz performance by the Thai Artists Alliance from New York, Muay Thai, demonstrations of Thai traditional massage, fruit carving andlook choop, promotional booths of Hommali Rice and Thai tourism, painting exhibition by the Cancer Fighters Art, Inc., exhibition on the Thai-U.S. relations, as well as exhibition on “My Thailand My Story”, displaying winning photos from a photo contest organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the National Geographic magazine. About 3,500 people visited the event throughout the day. The Royal Thai Embassy will donate all proceeds from the Thai Open House 2013 to Dhammaraksa Foundation of PrabatNampu Temple in Lopburi Province to help AIDS patients in Thailand.
