His Excellency RuengdejMahasaranond, Ambassador of Thailand to Peru, welcomed and gave a dinner reception for the Thai women’s volleyball team (under 18 years) who were invited by the Confederation of Volleyball of Peru to participate in COPA Unique 2013 in Lima from 23-26 May 2013.

Only four teams from different continents were invited to play in this competition including Thailand, Slovenia, Dominican Republic and Peru. Thailand won the third spot and received the best player award with highest scores.

The Thai volleyball team headed by Mr. Jaksuwan To-charoen, Secretary-General of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, together with two staff coaches underscored the use of sport as a means to strengthen people-to-people contact. Throughout the four-day competition, it could be seen that Peruvian audience gave a continuous and all-out  support for the Thai team which make Thailand better known among local people.
