Thai kitchen to the world in Mendoza, Argentina

     On 8 May 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires carried out the “Thai Cooking Class” under the project “Thai kitchen to the world” at the International School for tourism, hotel, and gastronomy (Escuela Internacional de Turismo, Hoteleria y Gastonomia) in Mendoza province—a major tourism city and the most important wine producing area in Argentina. The project was has main objective to promote Thai food, as well as Thai food products to be widely known in Argentina. 
     Ambassador Medha Promthep led the team of Thai chef and embassy’s officers to open a Thai Cooking Class” to teach 4 menus of Thai food and dessert consisting of Tom Kha Kai (chicken soup with coconut milk), Yam Neua (spicy beef salad), Spaghetti Neua Sub (Thai style spaghetti with minced beef), and Bua Loy Khai Waan (rice ball in coconut milk with sweetened egg) to the gastronomy students in the school.  There were more than 50 chef-to-be students participated in the said cooking class.  On this occasion, the Thai chef not only demonstrated how to prepare and cook Thai food, but the students were also given open opportunities to try cooking by themselves, as well as made questions concerning the recipes and how to select the local ingredients to cook Thai food.  Furthermore, after the class, the Embassy hosted a reception to provide an opportunity for the guests including students, teachers and executives of the school, as well as diplomatic corps in Mendoza, to try the taste of Thai menus demonstrated earlier in the classroom too. 
     The cooking class is one of the activites under the project “Thai kitchen to the world” which aims to promote Thailand through authentic Thai food, as well as to make known of Thai food products and ingredients throughout the world market.
