On 29 May 2013 Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata handed over a donation of 145,642 USD or 138,359,900 Myanmar Kyats from the “Textiles of the Two Lands” event held from 9-10 March 2013 to Professor Dr. Tha Hla Shwe, President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS). The Executive Committees of MRCS, Team Thailand and Myanmar and International Media witnessed the donation ceremony.

Ambassador Pisanu mentioned that the successful “Textiles of the Two Lands” event symbolized the great bond of friendship between both countries. The event commenced the commemoration of the 65^th Anniversary of the Establishment of Thailand-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations and aimed to raise fund to support humanitarian activities of MRCS. Ambassador Pisanu expressed gratitude to all parties involved especially Dr. Tha Hla Shwe and the MRCS team for the great success. Ambassador Pisanu also expressed his confidence that the donation will be fully utilized for the benefit of Myanmar people from various MRCS’ missions.

Dr. Tha Hla Shwe, MRCS President, expressed his thanks to the Royal Thai Embassy and all staffs collaborating with MRCS for this event. He emphasized that this collaboration has provided an opportunity for both sides to learn from each other and strengthened an even stronger relations. The amount of fund raised will inspire the work of MRCS staffs and volunteers all over the country to work for the well-being and happiness of the people of Myanmar.
