On 28 January 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon, in collaboration with Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Lisboa, organized the 2nd Cinema e Sabores 2013 (Film and Tastes) at the school’s campus. The activity, organized throughout May 2013, were also participated by various countries, including France, Peru, Macau, Mexico and the United States of America.

At the morning session, Ms. Sureerat Chansri, chef of Thai Ambassador to Portugal, demonstrated the preparation of Thai popular dishes: Tod Man Koong (Deep-fried shrimp cake), Tom Yam Gai (Thai spicy and sour chicken soup), Pad Thai (Stir-fried shrimp noodle) and Bua Loi Nam Khing (Glutinous dumpling in hot ginger syrup). The demonstration and practice were attended by 25 gastronomic students who enjoyed cooking and learning how to prepare authentic Thai dishes. After the session, the Thai dishes prepared by the students were served for lunch at the school’s restaurant where 40 customers enjoyed tasting Thai cuisine.

The activity continued with a reception at Bar Room. The students also had an opportunity to prepare Thai canapé, including Toong Thong (Minced chicken in crispy balls), Sa Koo Sai Moo (Steamed tapioca dumpling with pork) Tao Hoo Tord (Thai-style deep-fried Tofu) and  Hua Chai Tao Tord (Thai-style deep fried Radish), which were served to 50 invited guests. Lemongrass juice and Thai beer were also offered to the participants. In addition, Thai food products and ingredients as well as video presentation about Thailand were displayed and caught the attention of the participants who expressed their interest in knowing more about Thailand. The reception was followed by Thai film show “The Overture”.
