Student Painting Competition on 260th Anniversary of the Establishment of Siam Nikaya in Sri Lanka

     On 13 July 2013, H.E. Mr. Poldej Worachat, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka gave prizes and certificates to Sri Lankan students who won the Royal Thai Embassy ‘s student painting competition on “Siam Upasampada”, which was organized to commemorate the 260th Anniversary of the Establishment of Siam Nikaya in Sri Lanka. 
     The completion was divided into 2 groups: 10-14 years old and  15-18 years old. During the opening for submission from April to mid June, 176 painting entries has been submitted to the Embassy by students aged 10-18 islandwide.
     Afterwards, the paintings were selected by a judging panel, which consists of 1) His Excellency Professor J.B. Dissanayaka, former Sri Lanka Ambassador to Thailand and Friend of Thailand, 2) Professor Sarath Chandrajeewa, from Department of Visual Art, University of Kelaniya, 3) Professor Daya Edirisinghe, Sri Lanka-Thailand Society representative, and 4) the Thai Thai Ambassador to Sri LankaThe prize giving ceremony was also graced the judging panel and Mrs. Nirmalie Gunatilake, President of Sri Lanka- Thailand Society, the members of Sri Lanka-Thailand Society as well as the family members and teachers of the winning contestants.
