On 29 July 2013  His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, presided over the closing ceremony of the "17th Session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award" at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  Mr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Consul-General of Thailand to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, together with officers from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, also attended the ceremony to show support to Mr. Nooroodean Adam, the contestant from Thailand.

Mr. Adam was awarded Dhs 32,500.- for his performance with the score of 80 percent and above, while the winning award was given to Mr. Adel Mamoud G. Al Khier from Saudi Arabia who won Dhs 250,000 in prize money. 

The 17th Session of Dubai International Holy Quran Award was held between 10 - 29 July 2013 and hosted 89 contestants from around the world.
