On 30  August 2013, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Dubai, in collaboration with the Thai Goldsmith Club in Dubai, hosted Takraw tournament (Rattan Ball Game) as a part of the Thai community's initiative to encourage teamwork and to promote health awareness.  There were 4 qualifying teams competing for the final cup including the Thai Goldsmith Club, Crown Emirates, JCDecaux and the All Star Dubai.  The event was attended by approximately 50-60 people from the Thai community in Dubai and the nearby Emirates.   

     The winner of this year Takraw tournament was the Thai Goldsmith Club that defeated its opponent 2 sets to 1 and was awarded the trophy by Mr. Thosaporn Moonlasartsathorn, Consul-General of Thailand to Dubai and the Northern Emirates.  

     After the tournament, the players and the cheering squad enjoyed the homemade Thai dishes, which were sponsored by the Thai Women's Association in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and the Thai community.
