H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden and Embassy’s staff visited Kolmarden Zoo on 4 September 2013.  Upon his arrival, H.E. Ambassador was greeted by Mr. Mats Hoggren, Director of the Zoo and was briefed about the 2 Thai elephants which were the gifts from H.M. the King of Thailand to H.M. the King of Sweden, and the new baby elephant who was borne on 27 July 2013.  H.E. the Ambassador visited the elephants and enjoyed the lovely baby elephant. Both sides also held talks on activities to raise the awareness of the Swedish public about the Thai elephants by hosting a baby elephant naming competition. H.E. Ambassador will provide the winner with air ticket to Thailand plus free accommodation. Both sides will work out in details as soon as possible.
