During 13 – 15 September 2013, Mr. Chakri Srichawana, Consul-General, led the Team Thailand in Hong Kong, comprising Heads of Customs Section, Labour Section, Commerical Section, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Hong Kong Office), and Thai Airways International, to conduct a field trip to explore opportunities for Thai businesses in the Nansha New Area of Guangzhou in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone – the new economic zone aimed at establishing economic ties with Hong Kong and Macao.
The Consul-General to Guangzhou and her Team Thailand also joined the Team Thailand to Hong Kong in conducting a study visit with a debriefing session at the Nansha People’s Government, the Pearl River Delta, and the Thai factory manufacturing materials for jewelry making in Shunde. The project gained success in fostering closer relations not only between the Team Thailand to Hong Kong and the Nansha District Administrators but also between the Team Thailand to Hong Kong and the Team Thailand to Guangzhou, permitting the implementation of plans to enhance greater co-operation among Thai businesspeople in Thailand, Hong Kong and Guangzhou, as well as with Chinese business partners in Nansha, which has a high potential for growth and development in the future.
