1st Muay Thai Championship Open in Chile :Ambassador’s Trophy

     On 28 September 2013 from 12.30 - 1830 H.E. Mr. Surapon Petch-vra, Thai Ambassador to Chile, presided over the first Muay Thai Championship Open: Ambassador's Trophy organized by the Royal Thai embassy at Croatia Association (Estadio Croata) in Santiago. Fourteen Muay Thai fighters (7 matches, 7 divisions) from various Muay Thai camps in Santiago participated. In the event area, apart from displaying posters and advertising materials about Thailand, the embassy also invited owners of Thai restaurants and of Thai traditional massage shop to sell their services to participants around 600 - 700. All Thai food were sold out and Thai traditional massage was cued up and has to book in advance. More than this, during the intermission, there was fashion show by young and beautiful Chileans.
     It should be noted that participants to the event did not leave their seats until the end of the last fighting.  The ambassador presented trophies and medals to the winners and to the losers respectively and gave remarks to the spectators that the purpose of organizing this event is not only to defuse the Thai tradition which arises from the wisdom of our ancestors but also to promote Muay Thai to be used for individual exercise, self defense and even to earn their living in Chile. More importantly, the purpose of organizing this event is to support the unity of all Muay Thai fighters in Chile and to make this become an annual event in a Chile for long.
