On 12 September 2013 H.E. Mr. Surapon Petch-vra, Thai Ambassador to Chile, together with Miss Utoomporn Ampaivit gave a talk on "One Destination, Five Countries" at Sheraton Hotel, Santiago organized by Macrotour. On that occasion, the embassy also invited two Chileans to talk about their experiences in Thailand.
The talk was held after the tour operator, Macrotour, came to discussed with the ambassador and Miss Utoomporn about ways and means to promote traveling of Chileans to Thailand during which the ambassador gave the view that nowadays number of Chileans traveling to Thailand is increased but not that significant due to the long distance and the expensive air fare. The tour operators should have marketing strategies to present to travelers in the way that to make traveling to Thailand not costly the travelers must go for one destination with five countries (Thailand, Laos, Kampuchea, Myanmar and Vietnam).
The tour operator was asked to discussed this concept with Vietnamese ambassador.
After the talk, some participants (around 120 people participated) came to talk to the ambassador and said that their group have never been to Thailand. But after listening to the talk and seeing presentation today, not only their group will go but will also persuade friends from the south of Chile to go as well. The tour operator commented that the concept of One Destination Five Countries is very good and interesting for Chileans.
Remarks: Vietnamese embassy also invited Chilean woman to talk about her experiences in Vietnam.
