On 18-20 September 2013, H.E. Mr. Chakorn Suchiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Portugal, and Mr. Kasemsan Thongsiri, First Secretary, paid a visit to Algarve Region, located 300 kilometers south of Lisbon and renounced for its tourism and agricultural sectors.
On 19 September, Ambassador Suchiva visited Escola de Hoteleria e Turismo de Faro (School of Hotel and Tourism of Faro) and had a discussion with Mr. Pedro Moreira, Director of the School, about cooperation between the Embassy and the school. Both sides agreed to organize a Thai cooking demonstration at the school in February 2014. On this occasion, Ambassador Suchiva presented to the school’s director 20 copies of the book “Secrets to Thai Cooking”, published by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Thailand Foundation.
Ambassador Suchiva also had a discussion with Mr. Justin Ultee, Marketing Manager of Hotel Vila Joya in Algarve, about the Project “International Gourmet Festival 2013” which will be held at the hotel between 7-17 November 2013. The project will include an event “One Night in Bangkok”, a dinner of Thai and International cuisine, exclusively prepared by 6 famous chefs from Thailand, including “Chef McDang” M.L. Sirlchalerm Svasti and Chef David Thompson, among others.
