On 3 October 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., in cooperation with the Asia Society, organized the “Thai Classical Dance (Khon) & Puppet Show,” performed by a troupe of 46 performers from the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture of Thailand and the Joe Louis Theater in Bangkok, at the Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium of the Asia Society, New York.  This event was one of the activities to celebrate the 180thanniversary of the Thai-U.S. relations. Before the performances began, His Excellency Mr. Norachit Sinhaseni, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, and Mr. Tom Nagorski, Executive Vice President of theAsia Society, delivered remarks to jointly open the event, which was attended by 240 people, including invited guests from the diplomatic corps as well as members of Thai and American communities.
