On 4 December 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. celebrated an auspicious occasion of the 86th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King BhumibolAdulyadej at the Royal Thai Embassy. The event was attended by more than 200 guests from the Thai communities in the nearby areas, who gathered to pay respect and express their best wishes for His Majesty the King.

On 3 December 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. hosted a reception to celebrate the 86th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King BhumibolAdulyadej at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.  The event was attended by more than 500 guests from the diplomatic community and high-level U.S. officials, as well as members of the private sector and academic communities.

During the reception, Ambassador VijavatIsarabhakdi delivered his remarks paying tribute to His Majesty the King, followed by Mr. Patrick Kennedy, Under Secretary of State for Management, and Mr. Michael Grimm, Member of the U.S. Congress and Co-Chair of the Congressional Friends of Thailand Caucus.  Other high-level guests included Mr. Peter Lavoy, Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs, and members of the U.S. House of Representatives, namely, Mr. Earl Blumenauer (D-CA), Mr. Adam Kinzinger (D-IL), Mr. Matthew Cartwright (D-PA), Mr. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Mrs. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mr. Michael Turner (R-OH), Mr. Steve Stockman (R-TX) and Mr. Adrian Smith (R-NE).  Also joined the reception were members of the Bunker family, descendants of the Siamese Twins, Chang and Eng, who migrated from Siam (Thailand) to North Carolina in 1828.
