On 4 December 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted a reception for diplomatic corps and foreigners in the UAE on the occasion of H.M. the King’s 86th birthday anniversary and the National Day of Thailand at Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara. H.E. Dr.Tariq Al Haiden, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations, attended the reception as Guest of Honor.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Warawudh Chuwiruch, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, paid homage to H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej who has long united and inspires the Thai people, before touching upon the cordial relations between Thailand and the UAE and congratulated Dubai for winning bid to host World Expo 2020. Afterwards, the 35 Ambassadors present and approximate 300 guests viewed the exhibition boards on H.M. the King’s life and work, the troupe of Thai cultural dancers from Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, Ministry of Culture and Sbun-nga Cultural Group from Chiang Mai and tasted Thai cuisine prepared by the Hotel’s Thai chefs.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi organized the celebration of H.M. the King’s 86th Birthday Anniversary for Thai nationals in the UAE in the evening of 6 December 2013 at the Ambassador’s residence after the Sport Day at Zayed Sports City from 10.00 -18.00 hrs.
Over 400 people attended the celebration. After registering their homage and best wishes to H.M. the King in the signing book, the participants were treated with Thai contemporary dances and live music.
In the formal part, H.E. Mr. Warawudh Chuwiruch, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, led the lighting of candles and the singing of royal anthems. Afterwards, all participants enjoyed a Thai dinner and mingled.
