On the occasion of the 86th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand on 5 December 2013, His Excellency Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, led the Embassy’s officials, Team Thailand and Thai communities in Sweden in a candle-lit ceremony on 1 December 2013 at Hallunda Folkets Hus, Stockholm to pay homage and extend warm wishes to His Majesty the King on this auspicious occasion. More than 400 people from the Thai communities throughout Sweden attended the ceremony. Other activities at the event included a presentation by H.E. Mr. Suwat Theparak, Secretary General of the Royal Development Projects Board regarding the royal projects, an exhibition and a documentary featuring royal activities and projects as well as performances by the Thai communities to pay tribute to His Majesty the King. The Thai communities also had an opportunity to extend their most loyal greetings, in writing and electronically, to His Majesty the King.
Furthermore, on 5 December 2013, Ambassador Somchai hosted His Majesty the King’s Birthday and the National Day Reception at the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel. More than 250 guests from the Swedish Parliament, the Swedish Government and private sector, Ambassadors and diplomatic corps attended the event such as H.E. Mr. Per Westerberg, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, H.E. Mr. Bertil Roth, Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Mrs. Caroline Vicini, Chief of Protocol, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, H.E. Mrs. Lena Erixon, Director General of Defence Acquisition Agency (FMV), Ministry of Defence of Sweden. Ambassador Somchai delivered his remarks on the royal activities and development projects and proposed a toast to humbly wish Their Majesties the Kings and Queens of Thailand and Sweden.
