On 15 January 2014, Ambassador Vijavat Isarabhakdi hosted a luncheon with the Co-chairs of the Congressional Friends of Thailand Caucus (FoTC) at the Members' Dining Room on Capitol Hill.  Attending the lunch were Congressman Michael Grimm (R-NY), Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

During the luncheon, Ambassador Vijavat exchanged views and discussed with the Members of Congress about various aspects of the close and long-standing Thai-U.S. relationship, political situation in Thailand, as well as other regional and international issues. The Co-chairs also stated their interests to visit Thailand in the near future.

This luncheon was part of the Royal Thai Embassy's engagement with the U.S. Congress, particularly the FoTC in the House of Representatives, which was established in 2009.  The Caucus currently has 24 members from both sides of the aisle, with two Republican and two Democrat members serving as Co-chairs. Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), another Co-chair, was unfortunately not able to join the lunch.
