After his assuming his position as Thai Ambassador to the United States in October 2013, Ambassador Vijavat Isarabhakdi has made rounds of introductory meetings with people from various sectors in the U.S., including Members of the U.S. Congress, to exchange views on how to further promote the relations between Thailand and the United States. 

 Among the Members of Congress that he has met are Senator Benjamin Cardin (D-MD), Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Senate Foreign Relations Committee); Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works; Representative  Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Chairman of Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats, and member of Subcommittee on Asia and Pacific, House Committee on Foreign Affairs (HCFA); Representative Jeff Miller (R-FL), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and member of the FOTC; Representative Ted Poe (R-TX), Chairman of Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, HCFA; Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, House Committee on the Judiciary, and member of the FoTC; Representative Judy Chu (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access, House Committee on Small Business, and member of the FoTC; Representative David Cicilline (D-RI), member of the HCFA; Representative Alan Lowenthal (D-CA), member of the HCFA; and Representative Madeleine Bordallo (D-GU), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Readiness, House Committee on Armed Services, and member of the FOTC.

Ambassador Vijavat served as first secretary at the Royal Thai Embassy from 1994-1997 after working as Congressional Fellow at the Offices of Representative Rohrabacher and former Senator Hank Brown.
