On 17 January 2014, a group of 32 Thai students in Sweden paid a courtesy call on H.E.Ambassador Somchai Charanasomboon at the Thai Ambassador’s residence. H.E. Ambassador made a welcoming remark and told the students that the relation between Thailand and Sweden has extremely been well since King Chulalongkoen era over 100 years ago to date. It has been strengthened by the visits to Sweden of HRH Princess Chulabhorn and the official visit of the Thai Prime Minister last year. Over 40,000 Thai are living and working in Sweden, while almost 400,000 Swedish travel to Thailand for tourism purpose.
H.E. Ambassador commented that Sweden has been very advanced in all fields such as Science and Technology, Medical Science, Engineering and Social Science and has awarded Nobel Prize to those laureates who discovered important disciplines of knowledge which are beneficial to the world. It is a good chance for the Thai students to study in such an advance country and wish them to bring back home with the knowledge they learn. All Thai students were delighted to call on the Thai Ambassador at his residence and to exchange views on various fields of interest. They also had a spicy Thai dinner with the Thai Ambassador and his wife as well as the Embassy’s diplomats.
