On 21 April 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Santiago organized the Thai traditional New Year (Songkran Day) at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence.  About 80 participants both Thais and Chileans attended the event.

The event started with paying homage and bathing rite of the Buddha image. Participants also performed a well-wishing ceremony to the revered elders by pouring water on their hands. After that they had Thai food together. The event was wrapped up with Thai traditional dance (Ramwong Songkran).    

Chileans participants were very impressed that though the event was simple but gave a real touch of the Thai culture.
