On 13th April 2014, Ms. Benjamas Tanvetyanont, Deputy Consul-General, together with Ms. Tracey S.T. Lee, Superintendent of Police, Kowloon City Police Station, presided over the opening ceremony of the Songkran Festival and delivered New Year’s wishes to the Thai Community at Tak Ko Ling Road, Kowloon City, Hong Kong. The festival, which was organised by Thai Regional Alliance in Hong Kong, features activities, including bathing Buddha images, cultural performance, traditional games, water pouring for the elders to gain blessing, and Songkran parade around Kowloon City. These activities not only contribute to the continuity of the traditional Thai New Year but also bring about joyful and solidified spirit of the Thai community.
