On 17 October 2014, Gen. Vichit Yathip presided over the Offering Ceremony of the Royal Kathin Robe, graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the congregation of monks at the Indo – Cambodia Dhamma Niramita Monastry, Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Also present at the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Nuttavudh Photisaro, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Surapol Maneepong, Charge d’Affaires a.i., H.R.H. Sisowath Siriath, High Privy Counsellor to H.M. the King, H.E. Mr. Son Soubert High Privy Counsellor to H.M. the King, H.E. Mrs. Chhou Buneang, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior, H.E. Mrs. Neth Phoumary, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, as well as over 300 monks and Buddhists. In this special occasion, H.E. Samdech Preah Aphiserei Sukonthea Mohasangreacheathipadei Bour Kry, Supreme Patriarch of Dhammyuttika of the Kingdom of Cambodia, chaired the ceremony.
The Royal Kathin Robe Offering Ceremony at the Indo – Cambodia Dhamma Niramita Monastry fulfilled the aim of promoting constructive interactions between Thais and Cambodians through Buddhism. The donation from His Majesty the King and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Thai and Cambodian Buddhists amounted to approximately 550,000 Baht.
