On 15 May 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Thailand Foundation, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Qingdao and Jing Ying Fight Club, Qingdao, organized “Muay Thai Show in Qingdao” at Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. The event was held to promote Muay Thai, Thailand’s renowned martial arts, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations. The show was presided over by Mrs. Hattaya Khusakul, Deputy Consul-General (acting Consul-General) and Mr. Moo Jundian, Deputy Director General of Qingdao Foreign Affairs, and was attended by representatives from both the public and private sectors including the Director General of Qingdao Sports Bureau, the Director General of Qingdao Tourism Bureau, and the Vice President of CCPIT, Qindao.
The event attracted over 400 people as well as the local media such as Qingdao News, Ban Dao News and Qingdao TV. It showcased Muay Thai, sword fighting and traditional Thai boxing demonstrations, as well as traditional Thai dance performed by Thai students in Qingdao, Muay Thai demonstration by Chinese boxers and Wushu performances. On 16 May 2015, the Muay Thai boxers visited Jing Ying Fight Club to exchange and give Muay Thai tips to local Muay Thai boxers of the club. Qingdao is the fourth city after Beijing, Xi An and Kunming to host the Muay Thai show in China under the Muay Thai Roadshow in China 2015 project, which is held during 4 - 31 May 2015.
