On 26 May 2015, H.E. Mr. Tomwit Jarnson, Ambassador of Thailand to Afghanistan with residence in Islamabad met with H.E. Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, at the Embassy of Afghanistan, Islamabad. They discussed the bilateral issues of mutual interest. 

They were pleased with the close and cordial relations between Thailand and Afghanistan. Mr. Karzai informed that the Government of Afghanistan was planning to open its Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, which would be an important step towards further enhancing cooperation and relations between Thailand and Afghanistan to new heights. Ambassador welcomed this initiative and expressed readiness to facilitate to realize such goal. On this occasion, Ambassador also attended the briefing on the outcome of the visit to Pakistan of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan along with more than 20 non-resident Ambassadors and officials from various Embassies in Islamabad.
