On 16 February 2016, Consul-General DusitManapanparticipated in the Hyogo-Kobe International Summit 2016, co-organised by Hyogo Prefecture, the City of Kobe and the Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at Hotel Okura Kobe with around 50 participants, including executives of the government offices and private sectors as well as members of the Kansai Consular Corps. The Summit’s main theme is “Sharing Hyogo-Kobe’s charms with the world – attracting inbound tourists” aiming for the exchanges of views and experiences amongst the participants on how to attract more foreign tourists to Hyogo Prefecture. Thailand, Italy and USA, considered as countries with advanced initiatives to attract inbound tourists, were invited to give presentations on tourism development of their respective countries.
In his presentation titled “Thailand’s Tourism Development”, Consul-General Dusit highlighted why tourism is important to Thailand, the long history of tourism development in Thailand, policies and strategies related to the promotion of Thai tourism and Thailand’s key attraction factors. He also expressed his confidence that Hyogo Prefecture will be successful in attracting more foreign tourists. Among distinguished participants of the Summit were Mr. ToshizoIdo, (Governor of Hyogo Prefecture), Mr.KizoHisamoto(Mayor of Kobe City) and Mr.SoichiAtarashi(Vice Chairman of KCCI)
