During 16 – 18 February 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy Tel Aviv had invited 3 Israeli cyber security experts to conduct seminars in Bangkok on exchanging experiences and best practices on cyber security between Thailand and Israel. This project is to support the government's policy to draft the Digital Development Plan for economy and society. The Plan would lead to an improvement of physical infrastructures and digital measures to the universal standard with nationwide coverage. It also aims to promote more stable and secure platforms/websites for a large amount of public and private users using online transactions. The seminars were co-hosted by Ministry of Information and Communication Technology by Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization), the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission, the National Security Council and Ministry of Foreign Affairs respectively.
The seminars allowed experts and participants to exchange experiences and best practices on cyber security from Israel to Thailand as Israel has been undergoing on cyber security development for almost 20 years. With that proficiency, Israel has developed expertise on cyber security and has produced many leading experts for the cyber world. The seminar described the state of the cyber security situation and the need for a national strategy to protect cyber space, the next generation cyber threats, vital government actions and integration of relevant cyber agencies in countering the cyber threats, and critical infrastructures protection. The forums were opened for comments and discussions in theory and practice between the panelists and participants as they were attended by executives, policymakers, and officials. Another expected outcome of this project is to support the drafting of the National Strategy on Cyber Security and for the relevant Thai cyber agencies to learn from Israel and apply the knowledge to further develop Thai cyber security system onwards.
