On June 18th, 2016 the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels along with Team Thailand representatives organized a merit-making event to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 70th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Accession to the Throne at the Centre Culturel et de Congrès de Woluwe Saint Pierre in Brussels. The ceremony comprised a ritual of merit-making performed by 7 Buddhist monks from Wat Bouddhabouxa France, Wat Dhammapateep Belgium, Wat Dhammakaya Benelux, Wat Thai Dhammaram Belgium, and Wat Thai Dhammaram Luxembourg and was presided over by Ambassador Busaya Mathelin who read out a tribute in honour of His Majesty the King and led the 150 participants in singing the Royal Anthem and the Royal Salute songs followed by the offering of alms to the monks and capped off by a special talk by H.E. Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, Member of Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly, Executive Board Member of Thailand Sustainable Development Foundation and former Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom, on His Majesty the King’s Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy and its practical application in daily life.
