Minister of Foreign Affairs joins the Prime Minister in attending the 32th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

During 31 October - 1 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, in attending the 32th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, chaired by Mr. Lee Jae Myung, President of the Republic of Korea, in Gyeongju.
 
The Meeting adopted three concrete outcomes, including (1) the 2025 APEC Leaders’ Gyeongju Declaration (2) the APEC Artificial Intelligence Initiative, and (3) the Collaborative Framework for Demographic Changes.
 
During the Meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to an open, inclusive, and forward-looking multilateral system that promotes peace and shared prosperity. He proposed that APEC must take a leading role in advancing AI development and ensuring a safe and trustworthy AI transformation. He also reaffirmed the importance Thailand attaches to combating cybercrime, online scams, and human trafficking , and expressed Thailand’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with APEC economies through Thailand’s Anti-Online Scam Operation Centre.
 
On sustainable development, the Prime Minister underscored that APEC must empower all groups of people and to leave no one behind by promoting equal employment opportunities, accessible healthcare systems, digital capacity building, and lifelong learning. He further highlighted Thailand’s readiness to serve as a “bridge” that expands cooperation between APEC economies and regional and global partners.
 
On the sidelines, the Prime Minister also held bilateral meetings with APEC Economic Leaders, including Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, President of the Republic of Korea, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Prime Minister of Canada. He also attended the Special Dinner in honour of the President of the United States and APEC Economic Leaders. The Prime Minister also participated in the private sector activities, including delivering a keynote address at the APEC CEO Summit, the ABAC Dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders, as well as meeting with the U.S. - APEC Business Coalition and SK Biosciences.
 
The 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and Related Meetings were hosted by the Republic of Korea, under the theme “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow”. The Meeting was concluded with the handover of APEC Chairmanship to President Xi Jinping, who stressed that China would continue to carry forward key priorities of APEC and will be hosting the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2026 in the city of Shenzhen.
