On 2 September 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Elchin Ragub oglu Bashirov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Thailand, to follow up on the development of bilateral relations.

Both sides discussed the commemoration of the upcoming 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Azerbaijan in 2027. They also stressed the importance of exchanges of visits at various levels, economic cooperation, expediting pending agreements as well as inter-parliamentary collaboration.
