On 25 April 2025, Ms. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand.

During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the Director-General on her assumption of duty. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen Thailand-Canada relations and to foster closer partnerships in various areas, particularly preparations for the 3rd Thailand-Canada Bilateral Consultations, to be hosted by Thailand this year, the upcoming visit of the Team Canada Trade Mission to Thailand to promote trade and investment, as well as people-to-people connections and regional cooperation.

In addition, both sides also exchanged views on key global developments, including the Canadian federal election in April 2025 and trends in the global economy.
