On 31 July 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired the second meeting in 2026 of the Coordinating Committee on Issues Related to the United Nations, Other International Organizations and Foreign Organizations. More than 30 Thai government agencies attended the meeting.

The Committee discussed the participation of the Thai delegation at the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA81) under the theme: “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All” to be held at the UN Headquarters, New York, commencing on 22 September 2026. The meeting also considered Thailand’s positions on various issues and resolutions to be discussed at UNGA81, across the Plenary and the six main Committees of the General Assembly; namely: (1) Disarmament and International Security (2) Economic and Financial (3) Social, Humanitarian and Cultural (4) Special Political and Decolonization (5) Administrative and Budgetary and (6) Legal Issues.

The Coordinating Committee, established by the Cabinet, comprises government agencies responsible for issues at the UN and other international organizations. It coordinates Thailand’s positions on multilateral issues to ensure comprehensive, unified stances aligned with national interests. The Committee meets twice a year to follow-up on important UN developments and deliberates on Thailand’s position within the UN framework.
